THE PATH TO BUFFALO
A longer route to the NFL.
From junior college to a franchise quarterback. The story behind the numbers.
California roots
Allen grew up near Firebaugh, California. Without a Division I scholarship offer out of high school, he began at Reedley College.
SourceThe longer route
A year at Reedley led to Wyoming. A collarbone injury interrupted 2015; he returned as the starter in 2016 and stayed for 2017 before entering the draft.
SourceTalent, then development
Buffalo selected him seventh overall in 2018. His 2020 passing breakthrough turned physical promise into sustained production.
SourceA quarterback with two routes to the end zone
Allen combines downfield passing with scrambling and designed runs. His rushing production is central to his football identity, alongside his development as a passer.
