What did each game change?

A game total tells you what happened that day. This worksheet also shows what it added to Allen's season and how it changed two passing rates. Choose a completed game to compare the totals before it, the game itself, and the season through that game.

Week 6: Las Vegas Raiders, 2026-10-18. Before: 5 games. Through this result: 6 games. Regular season only; published coverage ends 2026-10-18.

Why one rate can rise while another falls

Against Las Vegas on October 18, Allen completed 23 of 33 passes for 255 yards. His season completion percentage rose from 65.9% (91 of 138) to 66.7% (114 of 171). Yet yards per attempt fell from 9.05 (1,249 divided by 138) to 8.80 (1,504 divided by 171): that game's 7.73 yards per attempt was below his previous season rate. A higher completion rate does not automatically mean more yards gained per attempt.

The six-game totals also show 240 rushing yards. The Rams game contributed 121 of those yards; Las Vegas added one yard on five carries. That contrast is a reason to inspect the game distribution before describing a typical week. These totals alone cannot identify designed runs, scrambles, kneel-downs, or the reasons for the change.

How to reproduce these calculations

For each column, sum the included completions, attempts and yards first. Completion percentage is completions divided by attempts, multiplied by 100. Yards per attempt is passing yards divided by attempts. We do not average game percentages. Rounding happens only for display. Before the first game there is no sample, so the worksheet says unavailable. Missing inputs also stay unavailable; fumbles and career totals are outside this worksheet.

Passing yards are the individual passer's credited yards. They are not team net passing yards after sack losses. These descriptive rates do not adjust for opponents, receivers, game situation or rushing production, and are not a forecast or a quarterback ranking.

Postseason seasons are labeled by their regular-season year; games may be played the following January. No preseason, college or receiving touchdowns are combined with these figures.

READING ALLEN'S PRODUCTION

Passing and rushing answer different questions.

The 2024 regular-season snapshot records 3,731 passing yards and 531 rushing yards. Keeping those columns separate shows two ways Allen contributed to Buffalo's offense. Passing yards also reflect receiver production; rushing yards describe a different type of play. Adding them can summarize involvement, but it does not isolate the quarterback's value.

Compare opportunity before comparing totals

Start with games played and passing yards per game before comparing season totals. More yards per game can reflect more attempts, greater gains per attempt, or both; it does not by itself measure efficiency. The comparison only shows measures supported by both selected snapshots. Attempts-based rates require attempts and completions that some historical snapshots do not contain.

Keep scoring and team results in context

Passing and rushing touchdowns stay separate so that a change in how Buffalo finishes drives remains visible. They do not describe every scoring contribution, and a team win is not an individual quarterback statistic. Compare regular seasons with regular seasons; a short playoff run should not be ranked against a full season by raw totals.

EXPLORE THE CAREER

Compare two seasons

Choose any two published regular-season snapshots. Check their coverage before comparing a partial season with a full one. Only measures available for both selected seasons are shown. Per-game figures help distinguish playing time from total production.

Missing fields are not treated as zero. Attempts-based rates appear only when both snapshots contain the required totals. Percentage differences, when shown, are percentage points. Games are appearances, not starts. These descriptive comparisons do not adjust for opponents, teammates, injuries or changes in the schedule.
